Two days ago I was approached by a staff member at work and she asked me if I would stop by their staff Christmas party next week and play a few songs. Most staff know I play in a band but most do not know the extent of my career (i.e. 9 CD's, my connections to various semi-famous musicians, the music magazines I've appeared in, etc).
My first reaction was no. I am not a huge fan of Christmas music. I am also a little uncomfortable when my obscure rockstarness meets my work world. There is always the fear that being a musician will effect my relationship with my co-workers. Then I thought, its Christmas music so why not.
Fast forward two days and I've heard that everyone is quite excited. At the end of the day (or in this case the middle) a gig is a gig. Sometimes the workplace can meet the obscure rock star world.
I will be bringing along some percussion instruments and getting people up to sing background vocals. Should be fun.
